Why be a member?

The College of Chiropractors is the only pan-chiropractic membership organisation in the UK. It currently has more than 1500 UK members and 2800 members worldwide.

As an apolitical organisation, the College exists to complement the roles and activities of the CPA, the professional associations, the educational institutions and the regulatory body, not to compete with them. For example, the College has successfully tendered, with the cooperation of the undergraduate institutions and the support of the Associations, to provide statutory postgraduate training to the profession on behalf of the GCC due to its expertise and professionalism in this field and its unique, supporting, national infrastructure of chiropractic trainers and tutors. Prior to the introduction of statutory postgraduate training, the College runs the PRT programme on behalf of the profession.

The College provides a forum for cooperation and collaboration within the profession both nationally and, increasingly, internationally to provide opportunities for professional development and postgraduate education for all chiropractors and associated healthcare professionals according to their varying needs and personal requirements, to encourage and support research, and to foster intra- and interprofessional recognition, respect and co-operation in the interests of patients.

The College has put in place and continues to develop initiatives that help chiropractors develop and demonstrate their professional excellence in the interests of patients. These include the Research Clinics scheme and the new Patient Partnership Quality Mark.

As a College member you have a real opportunity to involve yourself in the ongoing development of the profession and its aims, be it simply by voting the individual of your choice onto the College Council, or by putting yourself forward for committee work. There are many opportunities to have a direct input and to give something back to the profession. Whichever way you participate in the College, your input is vital and your subscription fees essential for the organisation to continue working for you, your patients and the profession.
